Wow, my sweet tooth is out of control today! I had a cookie with lunch, then Fage with honey as a snack... then a Wonka Golden Cream Egg! (Wonka Golden Cream Egg: chocolate egg filled with chocolate creme, caramel, and tiny graham cracker bits mixed in.) The chocolate egg was delicious, but in that "fake chocolate" sort of way. I'm not afraid to splurge on treats (obviously!), but sometimes I really hate wasting calories on junky food. Oh well, I'll make sure that dinner is super healthy.
I ended up mixing in 2 packets of honey... the first packet didn't reach the bottom of the Fage, and I was really enjoying the sweet honey flavor. Yuuuuum!
Oh boy...
Fage: 80
2 honey packets: 90
Chocolate cream egg: 170
Sweet snack total: 340

Starbucks Lunch
Today, I went to lunch with a friend, who has never had a Starbucks breakfast sandwich. (I couldn't believe it either!) Rumor has it that the Starbucks sandwiches will soon be discontinued, so I decided that he needed to try one ASAP. Unfortunately, the Starbucks that we visited was already out of breakfast sandwiches, but we were still able to order a couple of wraps for lunch. I ordered the Spinach, Roasted Tomato, Feta & Egg Wrap, which was decent, but really nothing special. The breakfast sandwiches are (were) amazingly delicious! I'm so sad that I may have eaten my last one!
My Spinach, Roasted Tomato, Feta & Egg Wrap before cutting into it...
The barista drew a smiley face on my wrap bag... little things like that can totally make your day!
No meal is complete without dessert! We split a huge molasses cookie, and it was worth every single calorie! :)
I had planned to go to Starbucks for lunch today, so to accompany my sandwich, I threw together a small side salad. I ended up getting hungry around 11:30, so I ate my salad with balsamic vinegar before heading to Starbucks.
Spinach, Roasted Tomato, Feta & Egg Wrap: 240
1/2 molasses cookie: 230
1/8 cup black beans: 50
Salad veggies: ~50
Lunch total: 570

Sleeping In
No gym for me this morning. My alarm went off at 5:30, and as soon as I rolled over to shut it off, I felt extreme soreness... but it was a good soreness, like I had a really great chest and triceps workout yesterday, which I did! Sleeping in was so enjoyable this morning! We recently received new bed sheets as a wedding gift (from our registry). (I kind of feel weird getting gifts before we are married. It seems like we don't "deserve" them until we actually tie the knot!) Anyway, the sheets were especially comfy and soft in the early hours of the morning.
Breakfast was oat bran with hemp milk, dates, and almond slices. As always, delish!

1/3 cup dry oat bran: 100
2/3 cup hemp milk: 85
7 dates: 150
1/8 cup sliced almonds: 70
Rice milk misto: 100
Breakfast total: 505

Catching Up
Sorry that I have been MIA all day. I had a morning meeting, followed by a long office lunch, then played catch-up all afternoon, so I wasn't able to fit in a mid-day post.
After my commute home, I was still jazzed from the day and had a ton of energy! I already exercised this morning, but decided to go for a quick run on the treadmill. I was in the mood for running and upbeat music! I did a quick 4 miles on the treadmill. It felt great!
While I was running, Mal, being the wonderful guy that he is, offered to pick up some groceries for us. He asked me what I wanted him to buy, so I suggested a few things, but told him to just "surprise" me. He came back from shopping with 2 bags fulls of nutritious food... nothing junky! Love him! I think that my healthy eating habits are finally starting to rub-off on him!
Dinner tonight was stuffed grape leaves with a salad of lettuce, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, and black beans.
Stuffed grape leaves up close... yum! Mal and I are going to try to make these from scratch some day soon.
All together...
Dessert was a slice of Pumpkin Maple Carob Chip Bread. I'm glad that I put sooooo many carob chips in this batch. Delicious!
Here's a shot of Mal's grocery shopping. He bought all of my favorites; he's the best!
I didn't take any photos during our office lunch today. We were "talking shop" and there just wasn't an appropriate time to take photos and explain my blog. Our group ended up splitting a bunch of different dishes, so I tried a little of everything. Lunch was at my favorite Thai restaurant ever: The Brown Sugar Cafe. Everything on the menu is wonderful! Mal and I used to go here all the time when he was working on his Master's at BU (Boston University) right down the street. If you live in Boston (or near Boston), you need to try Brown Sugar!

Brisk, Sunny Morning
What a lovely morning in Boston today! It's bright and sunny, and the birds are chirping. It's still freezing, but at least the skies aren't dark and depressing. Days like this always put me in a good mood... they also make me want to drink iced coffee! :)
I ate a big breakfast this morning! I woke up hungry and had a pretty tough workout, so by the time I showered and got ready for work, I wanted to EAT! I had oat bran with brown sugar, a piece of pumpkin bread, and a bunch of grapes. I'm drinking a rice milk misto with Stevia at my desk now. Breakfast was a nice combination of foods this morning, and I'm stuffed!
Oat bran with brown sugar... the brown sugar really sweetened up the oat bran! So yummy!
Pumpkin bread with grapes...
All together from above...
Sorry such a brief post and no calorie count today. I have a meeting at 10 that I need to quickly prepare for. See you this afternoon!
