Lunch Engagement

Mal and I just got back from a late lunch at Captain Fishbones in Marina Bay where we met my sister and her fiance, Pat. We decided to have lunch together to celebrate their recent engagement. (While I am typing-up this post, I am enjoying a pomegranate-lemonade. Love these things!)

The deck at Captain Fishbones...

The view from our table...

Since we were celebrating my sister and Pat's engagement, we all decided to get a Sunday afternoon cocktail to celebrate. Mal and Pat had beers, my sister picked a bloody mary, and I chose a glass of chardonnay. We all toasted to their engagement before ordering our meals.

While dining outside, a skywriter wrote a few words in the sky. I'm not sure what the entire message said, but we made out "THE SOX" and...

"MOHEGAN SUN," which is a casino in Connecticut. Maybe the skywriter was just creating random words?

The bride-to-be and me at lunch...

The happy couple...

For lunch, I ordered the Sonoma Green Salad, which was greens with goat cheese, pistachios, sliced green apples, grape tomatoes, kalamata olives, and a honey vinaigrette on the side. The salad didn't knock my socks off, but it was decent. I dipped a few of the tomatoes into the salad dressing, but honestly, it wasn't very good. It didn't taste at all like a honey vinaigrette; I'm pretty sure it was just regular Italian dressing. I ate all of the salad, except for the iceberg lettuce. Iceberg is just "blah" in my book.

Because we ate so late in the day, I don't think dinner is on the agenda for tonight. I'll probably just eat a snack in a few hours if I am hungry. I'm sure I will be! :)

**Update: It's 8:00, and I just ate a Barney Butter and banana sandwich. My stomach was hun-gry! (P.S. I'm a little worried about my Barney Butter obsession!)

Your lemonade looks GORGEOUS! Mmmmm.

I don't understand why restaurants use iceberg lettuce when they can use such a better green!

I was gonna try some Barney Butter today but it was almost $9 a jar :( Did you get a free sample or find it somewhere relatively cheap? I'd love to try it.
