Healthworks

Good news! My gym trial went very well this morning-- it worked great with my commute and there is a Starbucks right next door! :) I'm 90% sure that I am going to join... I just want to think it over a little more and crunch the numbers.

Before heading to the gym this morning, I snacked on a cherry-flavored Yotta Bar. (Ewww, sorry for the fuzzy photo-- it was 5 am.)

The Yotta Bar held me over through my workout, a shower, and a 10-minute wait in the line at Starbucks for an iced coffee. By the time I arrived at work at 8:45 though, my stomach was seriously grumbling! Here's a shot of my iced coffee mid-commute...

I made my breakfast in the office this morning. Before: a packet of Kashi Heart-to-Heart Golden Brown Maple Oatmeal, Teddie PB, and a banana.

After: To the instant oatmeal, I added banana slices and a heaping spoonful of peanut butter. This is such a great breakfast for people on the go-- fast and easy to prepare, filling, and delicious.

Question of the Day

What food(s) do you never, ever get sick of no matter how often you eat it?

Me: Oatmeal, peanut butter, buffalo sauce, eggs, and dates. They're long-time favorites! :)

Rumor Alert!

Rumor has it that my blog was mentioned in the Boston Metro today! I need to get my hands on a copy ASAP! So cool!

oh my goodness you are famous!! you should upload a copy of it when you get your hands on it so us non-bostonians can see :)

so did you shower at the gym and just bring your work clothes with you and such? that sounds complicated, espeically with bringing breakfast to work too, but totally worth it if the gym is great and has fun classes! :)

Wow, congrats on being mentioned in the NY and Boston metro! I agree you should upload a copy for us all to see! :)

Foods I could never get sick of: oatmeal, PB, chocolate, almost any fruit, and I'm sure there are plenty more...but these are the staples (ie what I eat every day and haven't gotten sick of! :) )

Oh, also wanted to mention that I got my Yotta Bar samples (thanks to your blog!). So far I tried the cherry and apple. You were right about the apple...yuck! Definitely has a funny vegetably type taste! The cherry was good, though! Hopefully the orange is better than the apple!

strawberries, the combination of black coffee and a pastry :), oatmeal, pita chips with tuna, and spinach salads! yum!

i actually would normally list chocolate for sure, but yesterday it was the cheesecake factory's 30th anniversary special - $1.50 cheesecake - and I splurged on the godiva one with a friend. after four bites, I was done, and that NEVER happens, so apparently I CAN have too much chocolate :)

That's awesome that you were mentioned! You should take a snapshot of the article ;)

As for foods, off the top of my head I'd say cottage cheese, yogurt, cereal, bananas, carrots, mushrooms, hummus... I don't get sick of foods all that easily. I eat so many of the same foods every day. My list could probably go on forever hehe

Ah I'm so happy for you! Congratulations - you're famous!! And it's all because you are willing to put so much time and effort into making such a wonderful blog that we all love :o)

I could eat oatmeal at every meal and not get sick of it, too! As long as you varied the ingredients (sweet vs. savory), it's really versatile!

Happy Thursday!

Tina - I've been reading your blog for a while now but haven't commented. First of all, I love your blog, and your food is very balanced and diverse. I also live in Boston so I really like reading about all the local places you go. I wanted to comment today because I also go to the Healthworks in Back Bay, I've been a member for over four years and I love it! It is pricey, but all gym memberships in the city are, and it has amazing amenities. I would highly recommend it, and the high price tag acts as additional incentive to go all the time and get your money's worth!

I don't think I could ever get sick of cheese. Grilled cheese, mac and cheese, quesadillas, feta on salads, brie on crackers, spinach and cheese lasagna . . . there's a reason I hardly ever keep cheese in the house!! ;-)
