Iced Coffee Addict

The work week is almost over! Yippee! Obviously, I have ants in my pants to get the weekend started! :)

Lunch today was a big ol' salad made of veggies from home and the cafe's salad bar. From home, I brought lettuce, tomatoes, and broccoli, and then loaded up on more veggies and "fun" stuff from the salad bar.

Bringing some of the heavy veggies from home definitely saved me some money at the cafe. My salad bar toppings were just $2.11... a wicked cheap lunch, if you ask me! After my huge, healthy salad, I balanced out lunch with an enormous chocolate chunk cookie that was leftover from yesterday, which was sooooo frickin' good!

I'm making up for lost time with the D&D iced coffee... 2nd one of the day! I ordered a small this time. In it, I tried 3/4 of a packet of the caramel-flavored Splenda, which made it super sweet-- almost too sweet for me. I'm not sure I like how my iced coffee tastes now. Meh.

Less than 2 hours of work left! Yay to summer hours! I'm meeting Mal and our friends down on Lansdowns Street for appetizers and beers-- glad I went to the gym this morning! I really want cheesy nachos! :) GO SOX!

An iced coffee sounds great right now! The Seattle's Best cafe in Borders has a cold-brewed iced coffee that tastes amazing, even more so because it was the first iced coffee of the summer for me.

That's such a good idea. I should bring my own veggies when I go to Whole Foods to get their hot bar. I always spend wayyy too much! And silly, easy-to-get things like tomatoes and peppers can add a ton of moolah on to the total.

You have me craving Iced Coffee now too!!

Hi Tina!
I've been reading your blog for quite some time now and I love it! You have such a balanced approach to eating..sometimes it seems like other blogs out there get really caught up in calorie counting and sticking to only the healthiest foods (nothing wrong with that, I just don't do it!) I really appreciate that you don't avoid certain foods if you really want them, such as your cookie today :)

Question - I tried your cottage cheese mixed with jam idea, and although it looked delicious, mine was awful! I could barely get it down but I needed a snack and it was that or the candy jar. I used 1% dean's cottage cheese and smuckers all natural blackberry jam...I was so disappointed! Is this a snack you have often, or just a random idea?

Anyway, have a great weekend - I'm realizing there probably isn't much you can say in response to this post, just a matter of preference :) Oh well!

I've never had any of those flavored splendas. Are any of them any good? (seems like too many any's in that sentance to be grammatically correct.) And you sound like me with bringing your veggies from home to make a cheaper salad. I won't ever let myself pick the expensive veggies (broccoli and cauliflower) when I am paying by the pound.

Have a great weekend. Sounds like a perfect start with beer and nachos.

Go Yanks!

I'm not an iced coffee girl... iced tea yes, coffee now; but that salad... oh man, I could eat 12 of them right now!!!

Iced coffee makes everything great. Too sweet though? Bah, never! Haha. I'd love to get my hands on those Splenda flavoured packets to try. I'm a sweet junkie so I'd probably love it.

Oh and speaking of red sox!... I just remembered this really cute film called Fever Pitch (in the US). Here in SA it is called The Perfect Catch. You might have seen it, with Drew Barrymore. Such a nice movie! Do you know anyone that fanatic about the game? I have a friend who's a huge SPFC soccer team fan and he's got all the merchandise, including a poster as his (and his gf's...) headboard!. In fact he went to his sister's wedding wearing a tie with the team logo printed on.... LOL!
